A little nod

December 24th, 2008

Okay well not really a nod because our work was not even mentioned, BUT I will give ourself a little nod.

Often magazines will not give us credit for our work so I will take it upon myself to do so because I am certain we put our heart and soul into making this day perfect for our client just as every other vendor mentioned in the magazine did.

Seasons Magazine recently featured two weddings we worked on and are VERY proud of.

The first is a magnificent wedding at Westwood Country Club in May.  We transformed the entire room!, Well actually transformed three rooms!  It was G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S.  Josephine Havlak was the wonderful photographer that took the photographs in this feature, which is probably a factor in inclusion in the magazine.

Here is the link from our previous post on this wedding.

This wedding was in June at The History Museum.  We were not able to take any pictures of this event so it is exciting to see that it turned out so well for our client!

Again in Seasons Magazine, and wonderful Photography from Robert George.

Winter White

December 13th, 2008

Winter White was the theme for this St. Louis Library Gala. Contemporary Productions was our fantastic client for this event. I have said it before but it I will say it again, they are just simply terrific event managers and producers, we so love working with them.

This is the First ever year the STL Library held their gala in this magnitude in their downtown HUGE building. This event was spread throughout the library both upstairs and down. Because they had such a large attendance and those old buildings are divided into many different rooms we utilized several rooms.
First was the Events Pavilion Room. It was HUGE!!!! This is just one of the three rooms used for dinner guests. By the way, click on the pictures to make them bigger and have more detail.
Before and After……

We move over to the second room. Contemporary had a distinct vision for this one and provided the inspiration picture for this. This room was perfect for this design because it only had a long and narrow aisle to work with. On either side of the room were desks and books and LOTS of file cabinets with card catalog in them that could not be moved.
Before and After……

Upstairs was another dinner area. We got to utilize some of my favorite fabric we own. It looks like icicles dripping down.
Before and After….

Lastly was the mind boggling large main rotunda. This room is normally used for reference material, computer usage, and of course checking the books out.
In each of there rooms there was so much that we were not allowed to move because it was sensitive material as well as the library would reopen again in 10 short hours, they needed to make sure it was ready for patrons again quickly. So we utilized the very large antique wooden book checking desk for the bar. Because we did not want to damage this priceless desk plus we wanted to make the bar part of the winter white theme we custom built a light up bar to go over the existing desk. So instead of ignoring the desk we used it!!!!

Here are our string curtains welcoming guests to dinner on either side of the lobby.

A few shots of the entire rotunda decked out with lounges, light up columns, huge 3 feet wide 3D snowflakes, snowflake lights, and general awesomeness…..

Winter all around

December 7th, 2008

Tis the season to celebrate!  This Friday there was a rockin Holiday Party at The Randall Gallery.  Lacy Branch of Lacy Branch Events coordinated this super fun event.  I have a feeling Lacy ONLY does AWESOME all the time because this looked like the best party!!  How could it not be? Studio B was there.

We rocked the icy blue winter theme!

Exclusive Events hits Studio B

December 6th, 2008

We are in the middle of a pretty busy week, haven’t had much sleep and probably won’t for a while, but some of the gang had a little bit of fun in between loading and and loading out events last night.

We found Studio B at Randall Gallery and Michael gave us a shot!

OLD HOLLYWOOD

November 29th, 2008

Okay ……I get it.  You want to see Old Hollywood Weddings and Events this coming year!  I think I get what the trend is for 2009 is a BIG way…Old Hollywood Glamour.  My blog stats allow me to see what people are typing in to get to my site.  And of the 1000 hits a day about 995 of them are searches for Old Hollywood wedding related photographs…..Okay well maybe not that many but pretty close.  Enough for me to get the hint.

I have to say I LOVE the trend!  We actually have about 4 Old Hollywood events cooking right now, and each one of them is different because everyone has a different idea of what Old Hollywood looks like.  Pretty cool concept.

So for all those people looking for OLD HOLLYWOOD photographs, stay tuned and bookmark this blog because we will be delivering in a BIG way this year.

The time for giving

November 24th, 2008

Ah weddings are slowing down to a trickle.  Sort of weird not running on hyper super speed mode.  It was a great wedding season, and it appears next year is going to be jaw dropping.  I can’t wait!  But in the meantime we will concentrate on our winter time activities which include an awful lot of charity galas.  Winter is the time for us to pay it forward a bit and work to benefit some great organizations.

I am especially drawn to the children based organizations.  I am fortunate to have two healthy little boys, but really desire to help those who don’t.  January we will be working in Columbia MO at the Ronald McDonald House Charity Gala, Also in May hopefully we will be at Ranken Jordan again to decorate for their Senior Prom. May is also when we are involved in the Family Resource Center Gala. You must check out their wonderful website. There are so many ways you can make a difference. They have an online Wish list of toys they need for needy children. Can you help by donating one toy? Or check out Toys For Tots.

While I am all about the kids, Bryan, is especially drawn towards raising money for the Theater Arts in St. Louis.  Theater People are his family.  The Kevin Kline Awards are in March.  His favorite.

These are pictures from the Stages St. Louis Theater Company’s Gala a few weeks ago.

Grace Ormonde

November 20th, 2008

We are so excited.  THE one and only Grace Ormonde sent Dawn Shields to photograph one of our designs for the fall 2009 issue of Grace Ormonde!  Dawn is a fabulous photographer, so hopefully she will make us look even better on a national magazine page! She is based in Springfield Missouri but regularly shoots St. Louis brides. No guarantees we will get space in the mag but we are hopeful.

We transformed our shop building space into a faux area.  Kristin Meyer our wonderful scenic artist painted the murals to compliment our theme.  Light airy to resemble a Monet picture.  Webbed fabric room canopy, with a fountain of crystals lit in the center of the room. Lots of blues and cool colors.  Rich West of RWdesigns provided our awesome dogwood centerpieces.  They were perfect! And Premier Rentals donated the tables, chairs, linens, and all the rentals! We are so grateful.

Now we just wait and see if we made it in the magazine………..

Forty Years of Fabulous

November 14th, 2008

We just completed some special lighting for this really great 40th birthday party.  I want to throw a party like this for my best friend!  It was a surprise party for a really sweet lady given to her by her boyfriend, mom, daughter, and best friend, and I hope she had an amazing time.

The location was The Foundry Arts Centre which is pretty cool space.  I love a venue with history and this one has great history.

My before picture of The Foundry during the day.  Then the dance floor gobo and room lighting.
